Montage of photos of Mary Ellen O'Hagan Davis, nicknamed "Nellie," as a young woman before marriage
to Will, and decades later at Davis' Willowdale farm in Crown Point where she relocated around 1912.
It was a point of some conflict between she and her husband. He preferred life
in Chicago where he had many friends and activities. They had difficulty
finding a manager at the farm. Nellie assumed that role and rarely returned to
the city. In Davis' diary he once remarked that she had not been into Chicago
in eight months.
At bottom left she is sitting on the porch with Will's daughter-in-law and
grandchild, Will J. Davis III.
