Samuel Fallows (1835–1922) was rector of the St. Paul's
Reformed Episcopal Church in Chicago. He wrote
introductions for two disaster themed books:
Lest We Forget Chicago's Awful Theatre Disaster By The
Survivors and Rescuers and Complete Story of the San
Francisco Horror.
The actual author of Chicago's Awful Theatre Horror is
uncertain. Published by the Memorial Publishing Co.,
it is identical to The Great Chicago Theater
Disaster by Marshall Everett, published by the
Publishers Union of America. D. B. McCurdy was
listed as the copyright holder for both books.

McCurdy published other general interest books such as Big
Game Hunting in Africa and Roosevelt in Africa.
Marshall Everett was the pseudonym of Henry Neil.
Perhaps Neil sometimes published under the name
McCurdy.
Fallows was previously a Methodist minister,
superintendent of public instruction in Wisconsin
and in the Civil War was lieutenant colonel of the
32d regiment of college students and faculty men.
He was a
prolific writer and active in the temperance
movement, organized labor and public education.
